Darling Point
Scheduled for completion in 2010, this project consists of the construction of a new duplex development behind above and below a heritage streetscape facade.
Located on a sand site in Darling Point, the face brick and sandstone facade and return walls were maintained in position using a combination of hand dug contiguous piles, machine drilled grout injected piles and temporary steel framing. The existing brickwork was augmented with remedial stainless steel ties and reinforced render (where allowed) prior to installing temporary bracing.
Founding below the proposed basement level, 3 metres below the existing ground level, enabled the new full building footprint basement carpark to be constructed beneath the masonry facade in close proximity to the property boundary.
Architect: Alex Popov and Associates.
Builder: A.I.M. Partnership.
